fireside ceremony at annual retreat
Each year, AM&M presents a three-day retreat that brings the healing perspective of AM&M to people who are living and working with HIV/AIDS. These annual retreats include a combination of lectures, discussions, ritual/ceremony, movement, support groups and experiential sessions. There are opportunities to express and transform grief, to sing and to dance, and to discuss issues of relevance in this stage of the epidemic.
In keeping with our tradition of addressing the whole person's mind, body, heart and spirit, participants have the opportunity to start their day with on-site complimentary chair massage during the plenary sessions. Meals are communal, and are prepared with the special dietary considerations of those living with HIV and AIDS in mind. Meals and breaks afford participants the opportunity to connect with an array of individuals and to truly reinforce the awareness that we are a part of a supportive community and that we are not alone. Social activities include a talent show and dancing. Daily twelve step meetings are held for individuals in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol.
